Notables this week

During these cold times, I like to think back when I was in Mexico City. Sitting pool side at Soho and having a sparkling water, hot black coffee, scrambled eggs, avocado, and a bowl of fruit. I remember thinking, this is how I want to start every morning.

Reality Check, I live in Chicago and I just got back from walking Auggie around the park. HOLY! It’s 14 degrees outside but feels like 3 degrees(this was written on 1/14). As I sip on this coffee and work on this newsletter, I reflect back to the time I was in Mexico.

But as Chicagoans, this weather makes us stronger. It makes the community stronger. We check in on our neighbors. We commute to work. Most importantly, we find our warmth at our neighborhood bar. No better feeling than being cozied up in a full neighborhood bar. We’re warm, we’re laughing, and we have a cold drink in our hands. This is how we get through these next few months.

Then all of a sudden, it’s St. Patrick’s Day and we’re crawling ALL OVER THE CITY! Spring is around the corner. Cubs and White Sox about to have their opening day. Then all of a sudden, we’re a couple of months into baseball and it’s SUMMER TIME CHI!

So don’t feel discouraged. Enjoy these next few months because it is GUILT-FREE to be at the bar. It’s actually recommended! So go out and enjoy that pint and help out your neighborhood bartender because this is their slow time. Its also nice to get to know each other. I love it when you guys come in and open up. I love getting to know you all and just know I’m here for you. Life is hard and I just hope I can help you forget about how hard it can be. Or help Celebrate a milestone. At the end of the day, always remember, Im here to give you my ear, offer hugs and hopefully make you laugh!
