Notables this week

Growing up, this used to be my favorite Holiday week! I reflect more to my coming of Age era and exploring freedom. I remember hoping on my bike during the day and meeting up with my friends. My Parents would take my younger sisters to go watch the Parade. I was at the “too cool to hang with family” age but I would bike by and check in on them. At night it was even more special. I just loved the option and freedom to go off with my friends and then at night return to my family having fun outside our house having beers and lighting off fireworks. I got the best of both worlds. 🙌 This is what the Fourth of July means to me. Finding yourself and the freedom to explore that option.

I also remember many highlights of spending my FOJ in Neshkoro, WI. “Neshkoro is a village in Marquette County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 434 at the 2010 census. The village is located within the Town of Neshkoro.”

We would spend a majority of our FOJ’s at Nesh. It was the best place to visit and get away from the city! So many amazing memories of partying with friends and family! I remember we would Bartend the night before leaving to Nesh and all the money we made from the night before would go straight to Fireworks. They would have “buy 1 get 3 free” specials. So we would end up with about 4k in fireworks and light them off the next two nights. No one lost any fingers. Some may have had close encounters… Sorry Justin…

But I’ve had a lot of good FOJ memories. Kinda sucks now that Politics have kinda ruined this holiday. Oh well, I’ll always know what it means to me and my love for this holiday. Which is freedom, love and Family. MURICA! Gonna be slamming some NA beers, Lets go!

Entertainment this week

T.V. - The Bear - Season 3. My god, Chefs Kiss. This got me into so many feels! Season 3 Episode 6 “Napkins” really hit close to home. Was just about to talk about the episode but then realized I don’t want to spoil anything. We can talk about it at Tumans. But I did binge this entire season in one sitting. I Cannot wait for the Fourth season to finish!

Movies - Independence Day - Best FOJ(Fourth Of July) Action movie for sure!

But my absolute favorite FOJ movie is Wet Hot American Summer. If you haven’t seen this amazing hilarious movie. Do yourself a favor and just rent this GD Hilarious movie. One of my favorite scenes is when the Counselors go into town. “Always fun to get away from camp, even for an hour” - Just amazing… Such a great cast, such great writing. Go ahead and just watch it twice because you will probably miss so many little things from laughing too hard.

Music - Bruce Springsteen. Any Album. This is THEE FOJ Artist that everyone can get behind on the Fourth.

Have you seen The Defiant Ones on HBO? Its a 4 episode Documentary. So good, do yourself a favor. Watch it. I bring this up because they cover Bruce and his relationship with Jimmy Iovine and how much Jimmy got his work ethic from Bruce. Great Music Documentary.

Weather this week

Looks like another warm one for you guys this week. Currently looks like y’all might get some rain on the Fourth. But who knows, ya never know in this City.

Sports this week

Looks like its just Euro and Copa Matches this week. Oh and Baseball. Is Baseball still the American Sport? I truly feel like American Football is now the American Sport. I mean everyone gets behind football. I guess they have really figured it out with scheduling and what works best for everyone. Now they have football on Christmas. That use to be the NBA’s day but let me tell ya. Having football on Christmas was awesome!

I will just be getting back from Sea Isle but hopefully with a “tan” aka looking like a lobster. I don’t really get that tan. I normally burn and turn red. But sometimes my Mexican side will shine and these burns will turn into somewhat of a tan. Who knows, we’ll see!
